Hello!
Before my presentation below about something I care about-doing amazing experiments in the upper stratosphere, students will be asked to write something they care about.
Look around the classroom. I have hung up posters reminding us of the IB Learner Profile. What do you see? We see that an IB Learner is:
an Inquirer
Balanced
Knowledgeable
a Thinker
a Communicator
Principled
Open Minded
Caring
Reflective
a Risk Taker
Courageous
I believe the most important characteristic is CARING.
On a card I pass out students will be asked to write their name one side, and on the other side a single sentence about something they care about-it could be anything-a subject they like, a hobby, anything they would like me to know.
Something they really care about.
Caring learners show empathy, compassion, and respect toward the needs and feelings of others. They have a personal commitment to service, and they act to make a positive difference to the lives of others and to the environment.
Do you have a talent, maybe you enjoy art, and your artwork can bring joy to others...maybe you enjoy sharing new ideas and helping others to learn, maybe you would like to be a teacher...maybe you care about creating things, like creating computer games that you share with others...maybe you care about being a good friend to others...write it down, and share it with me.
Thanks!
Now for the presentation.
