Anyone interested in getting students interested in rocket science and space needs to take a trip to the Rocket Base!
It is a totally cool place, surrounded by craggy, stunning mountains, in the shadow of the awe inspiring Lofoton Islands. It is set in pristine Norwegian wilderness seemingly out of place for a modern launch facility. It's attractive because it lies so remote- the night sky lies like a giant kettle of coal black unspotted by city lights over a Martian landscape of artic tundra. The Aurea Burealis-Northern Lights-flash and spark overhead, no distracting city lights interefere with star watching.
Just a forty minute flight from Bødo on Wideroe Airlines it seems like a world away from what one might imagine to be a modern facility. It's totally modern, awe inspiring, and worth a trip.
